This is a comprehensive hands-on program, 4 days long, scheduled during summer break, for school-age young people.
Our second Safari is Science Safari for the Science Enthusiast, June 18 – 21. Get a head start on practical, career-inducing scientific research skills and practice how to use the very special tools of the trade.
TODAY: Sustainable Agriculture with Jason and Abby Harned of Three Sisters Farm – Learn about their organic methods include maintaining a diverse crop rotation to discourage pests, planting native trees, shrubs and flowers to attract beneficial insects, birds and other predators, limiting deep cultivation of the soil, composting, green manuring, mulching, micro-irrigation and hand weeding.
PLEASE NOTE: The Safari program is popular, and has a waiting list. Last March, we had half our children cancel at the last minute, leaving many children unable to participate. We want to serve as many children as possible. Therefore, we have adopted the following policy. Each registrant will receive an email reminder two days before each session. You must forward this email to the Program Director, Kathy Havert, at firstname.lastname@example.org and confirm that your child will be attending on that day. If you do not confirm your registration, your child’s registration will be canceled and his or her place will be given to another child on the waitlist. If you confirm attendance, but do not show up on the day of the event, any registration that you hold for future days will be canceled and given to another child. You must click the “accept” button after registering your child to indicate that you have read and understood this policy.
