Pizza and pasta and cannelloni – what could be more Italian than that?
That’s what was on the menu for Redlands Conservancy’s Annual Social, An Italian Garden Party, at the historic building of Tom and Julie Cutler’s Church West Insurance Services at the corner of Olive Avenue and Cajon Street.
More than 168 guests and about 40 volunteers gathered on Saturday, September 8th to be part of Redlands Conservancy’s 25th Annual Social. They enjoyed a posh Silent Auction, enticing Opportunity Baskets, signature cocktails featuring local lemons, beer donated by Escape Craft Brewery of Redlands, appetizers, and a buffet Italian dinner with three pasta dishes created and prepared by Redlands chef Darrell Stephenson.
Just before dinner, Larry Burgess and Nathan Gonzales took the microphone to lead a lively Live Auction for three specialty events – generating about $15,000 for all three:
• Todd and Judy Elder purchased the Evening of Illusions and Provisions at the home of Sajid and Elizabeth Ahmed,
• Paul and Joanne Barich purchased the Haunted Redlands Dinner at the Burrage Mansion, and
• Dave and Robin Maupin purchased the Orange Blossom Brunch at the grove of Larry and Char Burgess – this item was so popular that we sold a second Orange Blossom Brunch at the same price to the Ahmeds.
Close to 40 volunteers worked for many months and on the day of the event to plan and execute a party that is the cornerstone of the Conservancy’s fundraising activities for the year. Our volunteers, our donors, and our guests made everything happen. Thanks to everyone who took part in our Annual Social!

Dressed in black and white, they filled water glasses, passed hors d-oeuvres, set tables, brought salads, picked up plates, and generally did whatever was needed. They were – and are – terrific!
Next year, we celebrate 25 years as one of Redlands’ outstanding “make a difference” organizations. We hope you will join us as we celebrate!
