Sunday FunDay – A Scenic Fall Tour of Herngt Aki Preserve
November 17, 2019 @ 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Share a casual and relaxed tour of Herngt Aki Preserve in Live Oak Canyon with John Gravois and Jonathan Baty. John and Jonathan are two of the biggest bicycle enthusiasts around. John was a Software Engineer, served as director of the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen, founded BikeBBQ and is happily passing on his knowledge and love of biking in Redlands. He can be seen in and around Redlands sporting his California Raisin tattoo and sometimes can be found tangled in poison ivy next to his bike in the mountains.
Jonathan is a native Redlander seen regularly on his bike in Redlands. He has facilitated the mapping and construction of many trails in his hometown since his childhood. He is a founding member of the Redlands Conservancy, regularly contributes to the maintenance of local trails, and is an active member of the Land Trust Cabinet. He has become known as “the man to the rescue” for a few stranded individuals.
Join John and Jonathan, with other bicycle enthusiasts for a two-hour tour and bicycle safety and maintenance workshop. During the brief instructional period, before we explore some of our beautiful local trails, they’ll review some basic safety and maintenance tips such as;
* sizing/seat adjustments
* safety checks
* identifying goatheads/fixing flat tires
* shifting effectively
* minor brake and shifter adjustments
Everyone is invited: novices to competitive racers. Snacks will be provided.
Make sure to where comfortable bicycling attire, bring plenty of water, and come ready for a beautiful Fall tour of the Live Oak Canyon valley.
