Redlands Conservancy maintains the City’s twenty-six miles of natural surface trails which require many hours of shoveling and raking to keep them clear of weeds and ruts. Whether you hike, bicycle, or horseback ride, you are welcomed to be part of the Trail Care Crew that keeps the trails safe and clear. Outdoor Ambassadors conduct periodic training on how to remove weeds with minimal seed dispersal and no power equipment. In the spring and summer, Trail Care Days are organized to invite all users to do their share. At San Timoteo Nature Sanctuary’s Bobcat Bowl, trail care “angels” will find a couple of shovels waiting to be used. Take them along the trail, shovel out the weeds, put the weeds in a plastic bag to carry out, and put the shovel back for the next trail care “angel.”
